At Tasker & Shaw, we do not expect you to arrive knowing exactly what you want. You do not need to understand tailoring terminology, know which cloth mill you prefer or have every detail worked out before you walk through the door.
We start with a conversation. We talk about what you need, where you will wear it, what you already own and how you want the finished garment to feel. From there, we guide you through the rest, from cloth and cut to proportion, styling and the finishing details that make it yours.
More Than Measurements.
Made-to-measure starts with accurate measurements, but good fit is about much more than a chest, waist and inside leg. We take more than twenty individual measurements and look at posture, shoulder balance, body proportion, jacket length, trouser rise and how the garment needs to sit on your frame.
The aim is not simply to make something in your size. It is to create something that looks balanced, feels comfortable and works naturally with your body. Your first fitting usually takes place around five weeks after your order is placed, and we refine the garment from there until it feels right.

Choosing a suit is about much more than choosing a cloth. Cut, colour, proportion, lapels, trouser shape, shirts, shoes and the smaller finishing details all play a part in how the final outfit looks and feels. That is why we approach every commission as both tailors and stylists.
We will guide you through those decisions and give you honest advice along the way. If a different jacket length will give you better balance, we will say so. If a trouser shape will work better with your proportions, we will recommend it. If the cloth you love is beautiful but completely wrong for the way you intend to wear the suit, we will explain why.
You are never expected to make every decision alone. Good tailoring is not about agreeing with everything. It is about understanding you well enough to help you arrive at something you will genuinely want to wear.

We believe you should know where you stand before you begin. Made-to-measure suits start from £950, shirts from £200 and handmade-to-order footwear from £400. The main factor affecting the final price is usually the cloth you choose, and we discuss budget openly right from the start.
